Last one for now

So this is probably my last entry for 2009, tragic, I know.

So I'm feeling like an idiot right now, I drew this picture of one of my original characters from this story I've been writing (both are on deviantart). The character has a very similar hairstyle to one of my friends on deviantart, which was semi intentional, I actually was going to change the style of her hair but didn't because I couldn't think of anything else. Now in my story the character is a total metal head and likes Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P. whatever, the works, I gave (the character) a Judas Priest shirt in the drawing. After that I realised that the character must look exactly like my friend on devart 'cause my friend's favourite band is Judas Priest. I didn't even make the connection when I was drawing le character that it would look so similar to my friend. So I feel pretty stupid, especially after apologizing in a completely unconvincing way.
The sad thing is is if they read my story it would make sense.
Fuuuu-

Anyway, I hope it's not that big of a deal. ;-; I just feel pretty humiliated and unoriginal.

Today I'm going to my friend's house to celebrate New Years. I don't know if there will be alcohol or something, she said there wasn't going to be but I am sceptical. Last year I was at my friends place and a few people got drunk and I took pictures, it was pretty great, better than getting wasted myself.

Song of the day is Hair Of The Dog by Nazareth, NOW YOU'RE MESSIN' WITH... A SON OF A BIIIIITCH. LISTEN TO IT RIGHT NOW

Woohoo

Today I'm will grace you guys with a full-length epic review of the slightly new Wolfmother album; Cosmic Egg. I got it for Christmas, it made me happy.
Anyway, let's start this muthafucka.

1. California Queen: Great way to start off an album, I love the guitar swells at the start, like it's saying, "Bitches, get on your spacesuits and 3D glasses, the new Wolfmother album is starting and it's awesome," the fans of Wolfmother who have always been die-hard fans will be pleased to hear that the new line-up of Wolfie didn't change a thing, they still play how they did on the first album. It sounds a little bit samey compared to some of their other songs, but it's still a great great song, and a great way to start off an album. Grade: A

2. New Moon Rising: I adore this one. This was, I think, the first single of the album? I'm refraining from using Wikipedia here so forgive me if I muddle up dates and facts and shit, anyway, I love the riff, catchy, I already had this song (cough, I totally legally downloaded it) a few months back, I probably listened to it over 40 times in the space of a week. Drums are cool sounding. Andrew Stockdale (the singer/guitarist) really gets to showcase his voice on this one. Awesome follow up to the first song. Grade: A+

3. White Feather: I like the way White Feather starts out, it's powerful. However, I'm a bit iffy on this song, the bridge just doesn't stick with me until the chorus the way the last two did. Plus the lyrics seem a bit silly to me, I mean, lolwhut? Dancing feet? It reminds me of that movie with the dancing and singing penguins or something. White Feather is altogether a fairly weak track. Grade: B-

4. Sundial: YEAH! Fantastic way to pick it up again. I love the wah-wah kind of intro with the riff. This song is one of the more heavy songs on the album, I love it. It's catchy, very Sabbathy, and I like the inclusion of the piano in the background, it adds another texture to the song, like rather than the song just being a heavy sort of boomy song, there's that other kind of layer to it. Andrew takes it down a notch or two for his singing, which works well with the song. I like the guitar solo a whole lot. Grade: A+

5. In The Morning: They slow it down on this track, and wow, Andrew hardly goes into his wailing semi falsetto kind of thing, I actually thought it was someone else singing it until I got to the second half of the song. Pretty song, lovely Zeppeliny lyrics, not astoundingly catchy, though. Grade: B+

6. 10,000 Feet: One of my favourites, probably. I adore this song. The guitar sounds so nasty. This is one of the most Black Sabbathy tracks on the album, I think. Stockdale even kinda reminds me of Ozzy (singing, obviously) on this track. I like how the lyrics are accented and kinda staccato-y and sorta with the guitar-riff (that's why it sounds Ozzyish). Anyway, this is, in my opinion, probably the best song on the album. Grade: A++ (I had to add another plus there)

7. Cosmic Egg: Ah, the title track. And mighty good it is! I sounded like Mick Wall there for a moment. Anyway, this is one of the catchiest title tracks I've heard in new music recently. The standout in this song for me is definitely the guitar, sounds great, especially the kind of swelling arpeggio thing in the chorus, at least I think it's the chorus. The harmonization are pretty cool, too. I also adore the lyrics. Grade: A+

8. Far Away: One of the slower songs. Very pretty and sad sounding, actually. Another one of Andrew's lowerish register songs, he sounds a bit like George Harrison when he sings lower. I like the organy thing at the start (and through most of the song). I don't have much else to say here. Grade: A

9. Cosmonaut: Good, solid song, but it sounds just a tiny bit like filler that leads up to the next song. It sounds just a little too much like some of the other songs. Not crazy about the chorus. Grade: C+

10. Pilgrim: Again with the swelly guitar at the start, this is really starting to turn into a habit, not that it bothers me. Pilgrim's a great track, nice and upbeat. The bridge/chorus guitar riff sounds EXACTLY like some Sabbath or Zeppelin song, but I can't put my finger on which one it is, and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is. Anyone, I like this one quite a bit. Grade: A

11. Eyes Open: Ehh, I'm fairly lukewarm on this one. A lot of slow Wolfmother songs are iffy, they're either great or kinda dull. The drums sound like some poppy kind of song. I just don't really like this one until- OH HOLY MOTHERFUCKER THIS IS GREAT, this nasty, durgy wurgy (lol what a great adjective) guitar kicks in and it sounds great... and then it slows down again, oh what's this? The drugy wurgy is back, and so is Andrews sort of hypnotic singing. Hot and cold on this one. Grade: A-

12. Back Round: I like how they made everything sound like it's stuck in a tin can at the start and then BOOM FIZZ OR SOMETHING, everything pops out. Bridge/chorus is insanely catchy, toe-tapper this one is. Powerful, I like this one a whole lot, it changes a lot. Grade: A

13. In The Castle: This one takes a while to get into, probably because the start is fairly slow and not very interesting, pretty guitar, but not overly grabbing, but you have to be patient and give this song a chance until it starts going, and when it does, it's great. Heavyyyy, man. I've played this on drums, it's a fun tune, man. Grade: A

14. Caroline: I remember first hearing this and I was like, "Hey, there's a song with four and a half minutes of nothing on it." Yes, another slow one, it's okay, I guess, but you know, it's slow, and a lot of slow Wolfmother songs are either great or they don't really stick with you for long. Grade: C+

15. Pheonix: Love this one, reminds me of Steppenwolf for whatever reason, probably the organ and the guitar. Fit's the title, it sounds firey. However, it's on the borderline of sounding like filler. Grade: A-

16. Violence Of The Sun: Very different from the rest of the song. It sounds almost Musey. Not sure how I feel about this one at first. The boomy durgy guitar that just suddenly appears in the middle whilst the organ and calm bass feel of the song is still going sounds a little weird and out of place, but I guess it gives the song a different feel. Then suddenly the song just slows down and goes all screamy time organ thing, which is interesting. This is not only the last song on the album, it is also the longest and most bipolar ish, with all it's changes. To me, it's too long, and the ending goes on forever, but I suppose they could of chosen a worse song to use as an ending. Grade: B+

In conclusion, Cosmic Egg is a great album and well worth a listen even if you aren't a fan of Wolfie, it's got some fantastic tracks, and a few iffy ones, but all in all it's an awesome album.
Final Grade: A-

Also my mom is watching Batman, lol.

Song of the day is Doctor Doctor by UFO, have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRRc4MMAQ3c
Also the Iron Maiden cover of it is pretty sweet too, *COUGH COUGH EVEN THOUGH BLAZE BAYLEY SINGS IT*

Up the Irons! Get the Led out! Buy some Hickory Sticks and have yourself a good time.

Bloody hell

I wish I could finish stuff that I started, or at least feel like it. I mean, I even have the inspiration and I have it all planned out, but I can't get myself to open the file. Bloody fucking hell man, I'm so good at getting nowhere.
I started a story back in, fuck, November? I loved the idea, everything seemed like I could write it easily, but noo, I'm stuck in a bloody rut right now, I can't even convince myself to open the file on my computer and tap out even one more sentence.

Song of the day is Headswitch by Bruce Dickinson, go listen to it right now or I'll kill ya.

YOU WORK THAT UP-DO, GURL

Well, Christmas is over, it's a bit depressing to think that all that excitement is only for one day, and hot damn it goes by so fast!
WELL NOW, the load was pretty gewd this year, from my parents I got a Pink Floyd poster (Dark Side O' The Moooooon), Pink Floyd converse!! (also DSOTM) a Led Zeppelin biography, written by Mick Wall, too. Lessee... what else... oh yes, the new Muse and Wolfmother CDs (I'm not a huge fan of Muse but I like them enough, and I love Wolfmother to death, the CD is amazing, too) and a bunch of other little things like some crappy headphones (which I discovered that it wasn't my headphones that keep crapping out, it is actually my iPod, the headphone jack is buggered up, so uhh extended warranty ftw), a chocolate orange and a new tube of good quality concealer (I really hope that isn't some kind of hint towards my skin condition).
Oh sweet babby jesus, I forgot to say, I got IT MIGHT GET LOUD! It's fucking fantastic! Seriously, go watch it. I love love looooved it.

From my aunt and uncle I got royally spoiled (but they have a lot of money and no kids so...), gff, they bought me the Beatles Rock Band. I feel so guilty, seriously, I was like DO NOT DESERVE.

I really wanted Flight 666 but motherskillet said she couldn't find it anywhere, but that's ok, I'll find it somewhere, eventually.

Today I had a FARBULARS time with my friend Emma and Luna playing Beatles Rock Band and Super Smash Bros. fucking great.

Song of the day (urm, post) is *opens iTunes* ... 10,000 Feet by Wolfmother, offa their new album, Cosmic Egg. Great catchy track, heeeeeavy man, very Black Sabbathy and Zeppeliny, but that's what Wolfmutha's all aboot.
Actually, I think in a little bit I might do an EXCLUSIVE AWESOME REVIEW SOLELY BASED ON MY OPINION of Cosmic Egg. Some of the riffs used in it are almost too Zeppelinysabbathy. BUT WE SHALL SEE HOW WOLFMUTHA FAIRS AGAINST MY RAVENOUS MUSAK TASTES.

also I swear to god the riff in Pilgrim in the chorus sounds exactly some Zeppelin song, or Sabbath, I can't remember, I'm slow.

Goin' to a frand's Beefday party tomorrow, it's gonna be a GOOD FUCKING TIME.

Me = Serious Badass

I lied in the title, I'm just semi badass. Yeah man so tomorrow is the last day of school, then it's freewheelin' winter break for two weeks.
Oh lol, my friends are so weird, one of them got me an Iron Maiden t-shirt, and for the past few days has been telling me that she didn't get me an Iron Maiden T-SHIRT, but an Iron Maiden bra, lolwhuutttttt. I laughed so hard, and they actually convinced me at one point, but eventually I was like, "lol no."
I cannnn't stop chewing my lips, they're bleeding a lot. Gfff whyy.
Yesterday I stayed home to study and finish up old assignments that were due like five billion years ago, it was pretty boring, but needed.
Today when I got home my stomach stared hurting and I started feeling nauseous, but it seems to have gone away, which is gewd, because I don't want to get sick at this point.
Nurr I have to finish this school project with an essay and pictures and things, on the interwebs, that's why I have two blogs on this here thang.

Song of the day: The Magician by the amazing Bruce Dickinson, I love Brucie's solo stuff, it's amazing, the Magician is one of the best, it's so catchy in that Black Sabbathy kind of way, and it's hard not to start singing it randomly.

also BRING YOUR DOUGHNUT, BRING YOUR DOUGHNUT, TO THE SLAUUUUUUUGHTER.
Well, that's what it sounds like anyway.

Up the Irons and things.

talking to a wall

Woohoo. No one seems to have read this like ever. I guess that's ok because my life isn't that exciting to begin with.
I like staying up late and waking up late. It's nice to wake up slowly and idly gaze at your clock and see that it's 10:30 and you can still go back to sleep.
The only thing that I don't like is that my hair usually feels like rope because I usually don't have showers on Friday nights, and my face feels all gross and oily even if it isn't.
This weekend I don't have much homework, I have a French essay to start on that's due Thursday and two tests to study for, which I mentioned yesterday.
Tomorrow my band is gonna meet, I think my friend Lewis has found a P.A. system for our band room. And my friend Emma is going to go sing for us because the guy we originally got isn't serious enough and sings kinda flat (although he's not tone deaf so there's room to improve). The only thing about the band that's awkward is that one of us likes more... how do I say this, more mainstreamy kinda new stuff than the rest of us, those kind of "american singy thingy" bands, which I don't care for too much, but she's flexible, and open to listening to other kinds of bands. Plus she's like the most talented out of all of us and I'm jealous.
Also, the other day, I spent half an hour watching the intro to this site over and over again; http://buenothebear.com/
so epic.

Song of the day thing *one moment while I open iTunes and look through my new stuff...*
Urm, Fuel by Metallica. I don't listen to a lot of Metallica but Fuel is probably one of my favourite songs by them, it's epic catchy and I like how it isn't all "RAHHH BITCHES GUITAR AND SCREAMING TIME DOUBLE BASS SMASHY SMASH," the whole time.
There is a fine line between good metal and bad metal, there is noise, and inspired noise. That's why I don't like a lot of those nu-metal and screamo bands because, to me, it's just noise. Inspired noise is like Iron Maiden, that's the good stuff.
Also I'm proud to say that Megadeth has made it's debut on my iPod, I don't really know why it wasn't on it in the first place but there you go.

madness

I was so hyper today. I think it was because I've been getting fifty two percent more sleep than usual. I usually get my ass into bed by around 9:30 and I use my iPod and run around Youtube until 10:30 - 11:30, which is when I'll usually get tired and go to sleep.
Also, I'm addicted to tea. It is hard for me to go a day without drinking a tankard of tea. The only problem I have with it is that it goes through my body within an hour of drinking it, and yeah.
I got 21 out of 28 on a French test today, which is pretty good and I'm happy with it. Next week on tuesday I have two tests in one day; Math and Socials. I'm fairly confident about the Socials, and I've studied hard for the Math one and I think I know my algebra terms and crap so I shouldn't have too much trouble.
My science class was quite amusing. We had a sub who quite literally didn't give a shit about what we did in class so myself, my friend Emma and this guy Eric talked about metal the whole class.
AND AND AND! WATCH THIS SHIT I MADE IT I'M SO CLEVER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN0Nbw18lz8

I also played Ocarina of Time for the first time in six months and realised why I stopped playing it in the first place, the water temple is a bitch. ;-; And the walkthroughs I've used are too confusing to figure out what place I'm at.

I think I'll do some kind of song of the day or what have you every time I post sooo uhh, the song of the day is Tattooed Millionaire by Bruce Dickinson off his first solo album of the same name. It's about Nikki Sixx of Mötely Crüe who slept with Brucie's wife because he's a whur (don't get me wrong, I love the Crüe). I really dig it as a song 'cause it's such a good statement but it's not overdoing it so much. Brucie is such a modest guy considering he's the frontman for one of the biggest metal bands ever. Have a listen, little people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG-uBLsP6Qw

Nurr, I need to recruit some people here so I'll actually have people read this rather than talking to no one. :/

so

I keep tryin' to stop biting my lips, it's too goddamn difficult.
recently I've been making armbands out of old socks, so cutting out the middle section and then sewing them up as I please. One of them is gray, white and purple and is sewn together and "hemmed" with red thread with an anarchist symbol (which I sewed in myself), the other is black, hemmed with black thread to match it and I found some old silver washers in my mom's sewing kit and stuck them on to make it look like a studded armband.
In other news I'm being a cynic a lot. One of my best friends has made three new friends and spends all her time with them and talks to them all the time and never seems to have the time of day to say a decent word to me, it's upsetting because I thought I really valued her as a friend, and I'm even pretty good friends with her friends (just not as tight, you know) but if she really doesn't want to be my friend any more then I guess I'll move on.
One of my friends the other week asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I, half jokingly, said "an Iron Maiden t-shirt," and apparently, according to my bessfrand and her, she actually went out and bought me one and it's hiding in her closet now. I feel really guilty now, and now I need to go and get/make all my (good) friends a Christmas present.
I'm hopefully giving my keyboard to my bessfrand, because we use the lame sound effects on it for shits and giggles (one sounds like some guy vomiting). I'm thinking of burning some CDs for my friend who is ignoring me, because she asked to borrow my CDs that I bought last weekend (Black Sabbath Master of Reality and an Iron Maiden Somewhere Back In Time best of thing) and I said no because a couple months ago I let her borrow a whole bunch of CDs... let me think, Van Halen two disk best of, Guns N' Roses best of, Dark Side Of The Moon, The Who best of and U2 No Line On The Horizon, and I got DSOTM back with the cover all scratched up, the Van Halen one with the edges all fraying, and I think my U2 one has a crack in the case. It's not a big deal but I'm a freak when it comes to keeping my music looking nice so I told her no. I think I was being fair.
In math class today we had a sub and I spent the whole time doodling a rather handsome looking Bruce Dickinson on my paper. Apparently the random guys I draw are attractive, according to some of my friends. It's amusing because I draw cartoons. Oh yeah, if anyone wants to see any of my art, check out my deviantart page, my username is MulletOnTheHorizon.
My mom says that if I don't get caught up on my missing assignments for my classes I'm not allowed to go to band practices. Guess what I spent all last night doing.
That's all I have to say for now.

So.
Umm, my name is Gemma, it's french/italian for gem, obviously.
I like Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin a whole lot.
I do not like Bon Jovi or Brian Adams, or any form of pop music.

I like the rain.
I don't like having dry or cold hands.
I like to draw, read and write.
I'm currently writing a novel, it's going well so far, but I'm very slow at writing and I procrastinate a lot.
I have a thing for Bruce Dickinson and Jimmy Page. Don't tell.
I like acting, especially improv.
I act really loud and crazy but I'm really a very shy and insecure person.
I like writing poetry.
I like to wear scarves, hats, ties and interesting converse.
I like humour, like Monty Python.
Some of my favourite movies are Spinal Tap, Monty Python's Life of Brian and La Fabuleux Destine d'Amelie Poulain.
I have long brown curly hair, apparently I look like Jimmy Page.
I have trouble hearing with my left ear.
I have glasses but I don't like wearing them.
I do averagely in school.
